Chygaga: Can we meet Motunrayo Balogun? Tell us about your Background and Academics.

Motunrayo: Motunrayo Balogun is the last born of a family of five, a polygamous family. I lost my dad when i was 13yrs but fortunately I have a wonderful mother. I attended Olulanu nursery and primary school, secondary school education at Ransome Kuti Memorial Grammar School and then proceeded 2 Moshood Abiola Polythenic where I had an OND in Mass Communication. I’m currently an undergraduate of LASU studying sociology.

Chygaga: How old were you when you started your acting career?

Motunrayo: I started acting at a young age… precisely 19years.

Chygaga: Who/What inspired you to become an actress?

Motunrayo: I think it is because I watch Nigerian movies a lot. I fell in love with the way people are able depict different characters and I wanted 2 do the same. I was mostly inspired by Henrietta Kosoko.

Chygaga: On a scale of 1-10, how stressful is this career?

Motunrayo: Honestly, it is really stressful. On a scale of 1-10, i can’t really say. But its stressful being under d lights and having to repeat an act.

Chygaga: Was there any other career you were interested in before you started acting?

Motunrayo: I have always been interested in acting. So no!

Chygaga: Who is your favorite actor/actress?

Motunrayo: My favorite actor is Yomi Fash Lanso and actress Ayo Adesanya.

Chygaga: Have you worked with any famous actors?

Motunrayo: Yes! I’ve worked with the likes of Femi Adebayo, Ayo Adesanya, Taiwo Ibikunle, Damola Olatunji and a host of others.

Chygaga: How many movies have you starred in?

Motunrayo: I’ve starred in about seven movies, and I produced one of them.

Chygaga: What is the hardest part about acting?

Motunrayo: I guess production… And having to act in front of the lights, sweats dripping down and all dat. Apart from that, doing what you love isn’t hard.

Chygaga: Briefly describe d role you played in the movie “Pelekutu”.

Motunrayo: I acted a sub lead role in the movie, i was a young girl who couldn’t say how she feels towards a guy she loves. She got pregnant for her family friend’s husband because of her insecurities about how she really felt. She was killed by her family friend who was her lovers wife. The role was acted by Ayo Adesanya and the lover was Femi Adebayo.

Chygaga: What is your favorite type of movie genre?

Motunrayo: I love Theatre. It is unique and honestly very professional.

Chygaga: Have you been in any commercials? If so, how many?

Motunrayo: No I haven’t!

Chygaga: What do you do in your leisure time?

Motunrayo: I relax with my family, Go out and have fun.

Chygaga: What does a person need to be a good actor/ actress?

Motunrayo: Determination and never look down on others because you’ll be surprised at what others can do and what you can learn from them.

Chygaga: What is the best part of being an actor/actress?

Motunrayo: The ability to switch roles, To be dynamic. Its intriguing.

Chygaga: Did you face any form of discouragement when you wanted to start your acting career?

Motunrayo: Everyone faces discouragement. Where it comes from doesn’t matter, what matters is what you do to encourage yourself.

Chygaga: Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

Motunrayo: I see myself being on top in the movie industry professionally and personally I see myself having a wonderful family of my own.

Chygaga: What is your favorite inspirational quotes that you live by?

Motunrayo: I’ll say what is worth doing is worth dying for. Simple..!

Chygaga: What is one thing you would like to accomplish this year?

Motunrayo: I’d love to produce my second movie. It’ll be a dream come through.

Chygaga: What advice would you give to young kids who want to act?

Motunrayo: Prayer nd hardwor is d key. Respect the elders, slow nd steady win d race and do not be in a rush 2 get fame, do the right thing at the right time.
